Housing: Students could decide whether living in (1) On-Campus Dormitory provided by NSYSU or (2) Private Accommodation outside campus, which should be find on your own.

Please be aware that these are only the recommendations. Please confirm with the university/ landlord/ landlady for detail information and regulations.

On-Campus Dormitory: International Village

Only students who apply from abroad are eligible to apply for on-campus dormitory.

To accommodate the increasing number of foreign and exchange students, a newly remodeled International Village has been established for our international students and short-term visiting scholars.  The dormitories feature with 72 rooms (144 beds) , TV, sofa, refrigerator, microwave oven and also washing machine and dryer.  In addition, convenient store, ATM, restaurant, post office, health center, dental clinic, book store and stationer, optical shop, hair salon, and laundry service are located on campus in the student activity center to make our students’ life more convenient and comfortable.

Furnishing of rooms and Room type

There are 13 residential halls available. The rent is about NT$15,000 for each student per semester. Students need to pay the full amount along with NT$1,000 damage deposit upon registration. The deposit will be refunded when students check out of the dormitory.

1      Double-occupancy rooms (single-occupancy is not available due to limited space).

2      Each room is equipped with Internet access, air-condition, wooden-framed bed, desk and chair, bookshelf, and closet; (Basic Bedding is not including)

3      Each common area (shared by 4 ~ 5 rooms) is equipped with bathroom and shower facilities, kitchenette (with microwave, no stove), drinking water dispenser, refrigerator, television (cable-access) and lounge area with sofa.

4      Room Rent: NT$15,000/semester, Deposit: NT$1,000 (For accurate price, please refer to NSYSU office)

5      Electricity cost is charged according to use. Use of air-conditioner will cost you NT$700/US$21.21 per month

Cooking is not allowed in the dormitory.

Reasonably priced housing is available in the neighborhood of NSYSU, including Shared apartments(flat) and Suites for rent.

Usually the rooms are furnished, equipped with bed, desk, closet, air conditioner, some also with fridge, TV, and others. 

Cooking is available in some flats, but usually prohibited in suites.

However, since house renting website, information are usually provided in Chinese, and the landlord/landlady could only say Chinese. If you couldn't speak and readChinese, it is recommended that international students should ask their friends/classmates/buddy who are fluent in Chinese to help you to look for the private accommodations, and to accompany you when you're visiting the house or signing a contract, to avoid communication and other problems. 

Shared apartments (flat)

The average rent for an apartment near the campus is about NT$20,000 per month, but it's common for students to ask for only a room without to finding their own roommates beforehand.

(1) Individual rooms are around NT$3,000 to NT$5,000 per month.

(2) A security deposit of one to two months rent is usually required.

(3) A lease contract is usually required and the duration is one year.

Suites

(1) The average rent for a suite near the campus is about NT4,000 to NT 7,000 per month, usually below NT 6,000.
